Hawaii Governor Suspends Laws 

Since July 2023, Hawaii Governor Green has signed 9 Emergency Proclamations over 100 times and suspended at least 32 laws, all without legislation, or public input.

Here are the Emergency Proclamations: 

  1. Housing

  2. Homelessness

  3. Wildfires 

  4. Axis Deer

  5. Uncle Billy's Hotel

  6. School Bus Services

  7. Condo Insurance Stabalization

  8. Telecommunications & Infrastructure

  9. Floods & Tsunamis (Statewide)

  2. Email the Notice to Your State Legislators: House Rep, AND Senator How to find them click here The HawaiÊ»i State Legislature can pass laws to limit the governor’s emergency powers or refuse to extend them. They also oversee committees that can hold hearings on executive overreach.

  3. Email the Notice to the Hawaii Auditor's Office at  LAO.auditors@hawaii.gov

  4. Copy the Notice and Paste it in the HawaiÊ»i Attorney General’s online form here:AG Contact Form click here  The AG can investigate whether an emergency proclamation violates state or federal law.

  5. Email the Notice to the HawaiÊ»i State Ethics Commission here: info.ethics@hawaii.gov  If the overreach involves conflicts of interest, misuse of position, or ethics violations, the Commission can investigate.

 

Note: The AG is part of the governor’s administration, so they may not be entirely independent — but complaints still go on record.​
