WHAT WE'LL TALK ABOUT
🏠 PROPERTY TAX RELIEF
Learn about a locally developed proposal intended to provide property tax relief for Hawaiʻi County residents.
We'll explain the proposal in simple terms, answer questions, and discuss how residents can participate.
⚖️ EMERGENCY POWERS & PROPERTY RIGHTS
How much power should government have during an emergency—and how long should those powers continue?
We'll look at emergency proclamations, laws that have been suspended, new biosecurity authority that, beginning in 2028, will allow the governor during a declared biosecurity emergency to requisition and TAKE CONTROL of real property (your property) under specified conditions, and the protections provided to property owners.
We'll also look at a new Hawaiʻi law that allows counties, under certain circumstances, to require registration, inspection, or notification of rainwater catchment systems.
We'll discuss these issues as we develop a new Citizen Memorandum and ask: What protections do Hawaiʻi residents want for their homes, property and rights?
🌺 HAWAIʻI COUNTY GENERAL PLAN
The Hawaiʻi County General Plan affects decisions involving land use, housing, development, agriculture, infrastructure, communities and future county policy.
We'll break down what's happening in language that's easy to understand and discuss ways residents can stay involved.
